We’re gonna give you some tips of what to look for when buying a home.

First and foremost, you’ve probably heard it before, location location location! Look at the location that you need close to work, close to shopping, close to entertainment, close to the schools for the kids.

But before you actually find a home, you need to make sure your finances are in order. Dollars and cents have to be right for you to buy the home of your dreams and be able to pay for it in the long run.

Of course, in the top 3 tips, choose a professional!  Choose a Realtor that you can trust. Find someone that you can work with that can understand your needs, that you can communicate with and who can communicate with you.

Real estate jargon is always a big thing, it’s lke a forgeign language to a lot of people.  We have a list of real estate jargon or definitions that may help you right here on our website.

School districts are important to those of us who have school age children, but even if you don’t have school age children, it’s also important because that helps the resale value of your home. People want to live in aschool district where children can get educated, go to schoo, play, have good friends and so forth.

Always get  an inspection on your home. That’s the mechanical, foundation and roof, but don’t forget hte wood destroying insects.  We live in DFW in a moist climate where termites and other wood destroying insects are a factor so be sure to get one of those inspections also.

Check out the crime statistics. Go to the police department website and they can give you that information by zip code.

And of course make sure your Realtor helps you out with market conditions. What’s for sale in the area, what’s sold in the area, what’s available in the area.

There is a lot to think about when buying a home, there are a lot of things to do.  These are a bullet point list for you to consider.
